Former Vols DL Byron Young was on the wrong side of a viral moment against the 49ers that he’s gotta hope gets deleted from the internet
Former Tennessee Volunteers pass rusher Byron Young was on the wrong side of a viral moment in the Rams’ season-opening loss to the 49ers.
Former Tennessee Vols pass rusher Byron Young has an incredible start to his NFL career.
Young, a third round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft, has totaled 27.5 sacks and 206 tackles over his first three seasons in the NFL. He’s likely going to receive a big contract next offseason.
Not bad for a guy who was working at Dollar General not that long ago.
Young, though, was on the wrong side of a viral moment on Thursday night in the Rams’ season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.
The former Vol was absolutely lit up by 49ers tight end George Kittle, a potential future Hall of Famer.
Ouch.
Now, to be fair, another angle makes it look like Young lost his footing on the grass, which made the lost rep look even worse.
It was a rough game for the Rams all around. Maybe next time they’ll travel ahead instead of trying to outsmart international travel.
As for Young, well, if you play in the NFL long enough, you’re bound to be on the wrong side of a viral moment. It’s just part of competing at a high level.
