Las Vegas Raiders HC Klint Kubiak just made one thing very clear when it comes to his team’s stance on a recent report
The Las Vegas Raiders won’t be sitting Ashton Jeanty this week, and Klint Kubiak made it clear that Jeanty will play against the Buffalo Bills.
The Las Vegas Raiders haven’t been healthy, especially some of their better players. Running back Ashton Jeanty has openly admitted that he’s not 100% healthy. Last week, he was questionable for their game vs. the New England Patriots.
Of course, he played. But even then, you could tell he just wasn’t really himself. Now, it may not have mattered anyway, since the Patriots were red hot last week. But this week, as they prepare for the Bills, reports have surfaced. According to Dan Graziano, the Raiders have held internal discussions about sitting Jeanty for a week or two to get healthy. Graziano reported that Jeanty has been the one to shut those down.
“He’s playing,” Klint Kubiak said on Wednesday.
Regardless, the Raiders need a better version of him and the offensive line if they want the run game to work.
“Yeah, I think Ashton [Jeanty] is really starting to feel a lot better physically,” Kubiak said. “So, excited about giving him even more reps in practice, more full-speed reps. And with Mike [Washington] and with Dylan [Laube], all those guys have to factor in for us.”
The Raiders have rushed for 110 yards on 44 carries in their last two games combined. That’s 2.5 yards per carry. That’s not great, and something has to change.
Klint Kubiak talks about Ashton Jeanty’s stance
There’s also been some discussion on his stance changing pre-snap. In his rookie season, he started the year standing up right. Jeanty used to get compared to Michael Myers the way he stood straight up before the ball was snapped.
Most RBs are hunched over in a stance that’s more ready for receiving the ball. Of course, we all know about last season’s fiasco. The staff made him stop. Now there’s more drama around it.
“You know, those are things between Ashton, myself, and his coaches. Bottom line is we just got to find more production and that starts with the coaching staff and putting our players in the best position to be successful,” Kubiak said.
Surely fans and media don’t care how he is pre-snap if he’s rushing the ball well. It’s likely only a discussion right now because the run game isn’t working.
