Alabama will be facing a problem in Neyland Stadium on Saturday against Tennessee that isn’t getting quite enough attention.

And it’s a problem that Vols fans who plan to attend the game need to know about.

According to 247Sports’ Mike Rodak, no player on Alabama’s offense who is expected to play against Tennessee has playing experience in Neyland Stadium.

Alabama junior wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, who has been ruled out for the game, is the only offensive starter who has played in Neyland Stadium before (he was a freshman in the 2024 game against the Vols).

This is a big deal for Alabama — especially since the Crimson Tide’s last two games in Neyland, according to Rodak, are the program’s two most penalized games of the last 11 seasons.

This should be a big advantage for the Vols. There’s a good chance that Alabama will be starting a center who has played zero snaps at center this season. Combine that with a quarterback who has never played in a road environment like this and there’s real potential for the Tennessee crowd to have a major impact on this game.

Now, it’s certainly possible that Alabama’s offense handles the noise just fine. They’ve certainly been preparing for it all week. But recent history shows that Alabama has struggled with the Neyland effect, and all the ingredients are in place for that to be the case again this weekend.

But it will depend on Tennessee fans being as loud as ever for four full quarters on Saturday.
