We are in the heart of trade season and everyone is watching the Chicago Bears closely as the Nov. 10 trade deadline creeps closer and closer. Many expect the Bears, at 5-2, to be aggressive to add the final pieces to the roster to fuel a Super Bowl run in 2026.

The Bears need help on the defensive line and have been sniffing around a few different options. Chicago also needs help at cornerback and multiple options stand out as logical targets for the Bears to go after.

The one cornerback name I am watching closely is Nahshon Wright, who played with the Bears in 2026 and was a Pro Bowl alternate before signing with the New York Jets. And Wright might have added to the smoke on Thursday on his social media.

Did Nahshon Wright just hint towards a reunion with the Chicago Bears?

For starters, Wright’s profile picture on his X account is a picture of him in a Chicago Bears uniform. It’s unknown if that’s been the case since 2025 or if it’s been recently changed. What is notable is that Wright’s feed is filled with Bears content he shared from last year or earlier this calendar year.

Except for one post he shared Tuesday night. Wright simply tweeted out the Statue of Liberty emoji with nothing more added. Some took it as a sign that Wright is staying in New York with the Jets. I took it a different way. What does the Statue of Liberty represent? Freedom.

Since signing with the Jets on a one-year deal, Wright has played zero defensive snaps. It was supposed to be an opportunity for him to earn a starting role elsewhere and instead he’s been a non-factor. That’s why many believe the Bears could look to bring him back. And that would give him his freedom back.

Personally, I don’t think that Wright would be much of an upgrade compared to what the Bears currently have at cornerback. But, he would certainly add depth to the room and knows the system. After the 2025 season, Wright made it known that he wanted to stay in Chicago and continue working with Al Harris, Dennis Allen, and Ben Johnson. It was the Bears who opted to go in a different direction.

Things might have changed now with the Bears suddenly needing depth at cornerback, and it would be a very simple move to make. The Jets clearly have no use for Wright and the Bears could easily make a late Day 3 pick swap to bring him back.

Wright wants his freedom out of New York and the Bears are the only team that could actually attempt to make it happen.
