The floodgates officially just opened on the Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes as the Colts reverse course—and the Denver Broncos are in the mix
The Indianapolis Colts have been hesitant to trade RB Jonathan Taylor amid their fire sale. Until now…
The Denver Broncos sit at 5-2 — but it doesn’t quite feel as savory as what it did last season. That’s in large part because of some offensive struggles that have lingered through the first two months of the season. Denver ranks 30th in yards and 25th in scoring offensively this season.
You know what could help? A star player like a Jonathan Taylor. And it just so happens that Jonathan Taylor is now, officially, available for trade. The Indianapolis Colts have relented on their initial stance, per reports — and are willing to listen to offers for the star running back. Denver is, according to reports, in the mix.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Colts are relenting on their hesitancy to trade Jonathan Taylor — and the Broncos are reportedly in the mix

“The Indianapolis Colts now are open to trading star running back Jonathan Taylor, sources told ESPN and NFL Network.
Multiple teams have reached out to Indianapolis, and those talks are said to be active and ongoing, according to sources.
The list of teams that have expressed at least some level of interest in trading for Taylor so far is thought to include the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks, sources said.“

Saddle up, Broncos fans. This has the makings of a wild ride. The Colts relenting on their initial stance with Taylor, plus the amount of teams reported to be interested in his services, could see a bidding frenzy unfold between now and the 2026 NFL Trade Deadline.
For the Broncos, Taylor would be a massive upgrade for an offense that has generally felt like it’s missing something. The unit has posted an unsettling 3.8 yards per carry this season. JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey both are under the 4.0 yards per carry mark, along with quarterback Bo Nix. Jonathan Taylor? He’s not having the most efficient yards per carry season of his career but he’s had 90+ rushing yards in five of the Colts’ seven games despite the other offensive issues.
The Broncos have the ammunition to go make this trade happen. And after only making one real addition to the offensive depth chart this season (Jaylen Waddle), they should certainly be in on an addition like Taylor. But they are going to have a lot of company for his services. So they’ll need to be ready to…wait for it…pony up.
