The Colts have opened the floodgates for a Jonathan Taylor trade—and the New York Giants are reportedly in the mix
The Indianapolis Colts are finally willing to hear offers for RB Jonathan Taylor — and the New York Giants are reportedly in the mix.
One of the brightest surprises of the 2026 season? That would be the New York Giants. In the first season under John Harbaugh, the Giants are out in first place in the NFC East and looking like the team to beat. The team appears to have already struck gold on the trade market, too — as former first round quarterback JJ McCarthy has looked great in his early playing time for the Giants.
Perhaps another trip to the trade well is in order for Big Blue? They are, apparently, at least considering it. Star running back Jonathan Taylor is now being made available to other teams by the Indianapolis Colts. And, according to a Saturday morning report, the New York Giants are in the mix.
The New York Giants are reportedly among teams inquiring about running back Jonathan Taylor

“The Indianapolis Colts now are open to trading star running back Jonathan Taylor, sources told ESPN and NFL Network
Multiple teams have reached out to Indianapolis, and those talks are said to be active and ongoing, according to sources.
The list of teams that have expressed at least some level of interest in trading for Taylor so far is thought to include the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks, sources said.”

Harbaugh has Derrick Henry for the end of his tenure in Baltimore. Getting Jonathan Taylor for the start of his tenure in New York? Yeah, man. Heck yeah. This would be a ton of fun, especially for a reinvigorated Giants offense that ranks in the middle of the pack in the major statistical categories. That includes rushing yards (15th) and yards per carry (4.1, 18th).
Cam Skattebo is coming off of his best game of the season — 124 yards and a score just one week after he was effectively sidelined by the team. His physical running style fits with the Harbaugh smash mouth style. But we’re talking about Jonathan Taylor here.
I’m not sure the Giants should be “all-in” for his services. At least not to the same degree as some of the other teams involved like the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings and the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. But given the success Harbaugh helped breed with an aging running back in Derrick Henry? There would be few coaches I trust with Taylor at this stage of his career more. And we know at the very least the Giants have thought about it. Hard to blame them — it’s an exciting idea.
