The Kansas City Chiefs have released their first injury report ahead of Week 9’s game against the New York Jets.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that DT Peter Woods would not practice because of the stinger he suffered in Week 8’s loss to the Broncos. He was the only player who didn’t participate in practice, with CB Mansoor Delane (shoulder) returning in a limited capacity. DT Omarr Norman-Lott continues his ramp-up period after being designated to return to practice. He’s missed quite a bit of time with an ACL injury. As for the Jets, they’re also navigating a few injuries. They were without their biggest offensive star, WR Garrett Wilson, on Wednesday.

Here’s a quick breakdown of each team’s Week 9 injury report. Keep in mind that clubs can add to the injury report through kickoff on Sunday. They will release game status designations on Friday, Nov. 6.

Observations

  • We’ll see how Peter Woods progresses through the practice week, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for him to return to action with a limited practice on Thursday and a full practice on Friday.
  • Andy Reid said on Monday that Mansoor Delane would have a chance to play this week. Limited practice puts him on track to return after missing Week 8’s game against the Broncos.
  • Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice being limited is planned maintenance. The player to watch is WR Nikko Remigio. The hip injury is new, and Emmett Johnson has recently flashed his ability on special teams as a return specialist.

Observations

  • Aaron Glenn described Harrison Phillips and Garrett Wilson as day-to-day. Everyone else is “trending in the right direction.”
  • VJ Payne’s practice window opened; he remains on injured reserve. However, a full practice means he should be activated for Week 9, unless he suffers a setback.
