Tennessee fans were perplexed by a play that happened in the second half of the Vols’ 34-6 win over Kentucky on Saturday night.

In the third quarter, quarterback George MacIntyre made a beautiful back shoulder throw to tight end DaSaahn Brame that looked like a touchdown.

Officials, however, ruled the pass incomplete because Brame didn’t hold onto the ball after he hit the ground.

It looked like Brame caught the ball, got a foot down, broke the plane, then stepped out of bounds and then fell to the ground, at which point he lost the ball. Many felt once he broke the plane the play was over and it should’ve been a touchdown. That’s why fans were confused when the play didn’t go under review.

Well, at least it didn’t appear that it went to review. No announcement was made that the play was being reviewed, and the ESPN broadcast never said it was reviewed.

Vols head coach Josh Heupel, however, said after the game that the officials told him that the play actually was reviewed.

Fans may not like the result of the review — I certainly have some questions — but at least it was reviewed…supposedly.

Fortunately for Tennessee, the Vols’ offense was able to put up 21 points in the fourth quarter and make the Brame non-touchdown a moot point.
