With the season officially halfway done, now it's time for us to look back at the first half of the Buffalo Bills season. We're going to be doing a series of mid-season articles that will talk about both the good and the bad of this year so far.

The Buffalo Bills have been a rollercoaster of emotions for fans this season. From a lackluster Week 1 performance to bouncing back in a big way, to then faltering on the offensive side of the football once again, it's been interesting, to say the least. Their recent loss to Cincinnati has left a sour taste in our mouths.

What's more, injuries have plagued this team and the defense has obviously struggled as a result of that. From Tre'Davious White to Matt Milano, with DaQuan Jones and Dawson Knox, the team just cannot stay healthy.

However, there have been plenty of bright spots on this roster, players who have really gone above and beyond and have earned the respect of the Bills Mafia with their solid play through 9 weeks. With the offensive struggles as of late, we didn't want to include Josh Allen on our midseason MVP list.

LB Terrel Bernard

First and foremost, WOW. Did anyone have Bernard exploding onto the scene with their bingo cards for this season?

With Tremaine Edmunds' departure, there were some big question marks about who would fill that role that Edmunds had cemented himself in for the past few seasons. Buffalo desperately needed a signal-caller on the defensive side of the football, and Bernard answered in a big way.

Now, we would be remiss to not point out that Matt Milano being injured and quite possibly out for the season might rain on the parade of just how dominant Bernard has been, but he's easily one of our mid-season MVPs thus far.

Bernard won the starting job and has since run away with it. Throughout the season, Bernard has played and started in all eight games. He has managed four passes defended and two sacks to go along with 76 combined tackles and two interceptions. To put it in perspective, through the same amount of games Edmunds has one interception, three passes defended, 63 combined tackles, and no sacks.

Unfortunately, Bernard was injured during the Cincinnati Bengals contest and his status going into next week is uncertain.

OL O'Cyrus Torrence

Outside of the question marks at the middle linebacker position, the other big reason to be concerned heading into this season was that of the offensive line. Too many times last season Josh Allen was forced to play hero ball because of a lackluster offensive line.

Now, there have been some big improvements with Spencer Brown really finding his own (He had a really bad game against the Bengals). However, our second and final midseason MVP is that of O'Cyrus Torrence. While it may take some time for rookies to get their bearings in the NFL, that hasn't been the case for Torrence.

He hasn't been perfect, no one has, not even Josh Allen. However, Torrence came into the team during camp and immediately started competing with Ryan Bates for the starting job. After Sean McDermott announced Torrence would be the Week 1 starter, he's run away with the position.

For the team to be successful, Josh Allen needs to continue to be a superstar. In order for Allen to be a superstar, he needs to be better protected. Torrence joined the team and immediately became an asset on the offensive line, starting in all games so far this season, and has had more positive reps than negative, something the team desperately needed coming into the season.

With half the season under our belts, these two men have really stood out to us as the mid-season MVPs. Buffalo has a really bright future ahead of them, and a chunk of it rests on the shoulders of these talented young men.

Here's hoping they can continue to dominate and our end-of-the-season report has us glowing about them, once again.
