5-star commit Elijah Haven’s performance at the Elite 11 Finals proves Alabama already has a 2027 quarterback competition

Both of Alabama’s quarterback commits for the 2027 class were at the Elite 11 Finals over the weekend, but the one who stood out the most may not be who many would assume, given their respective rankings.

The Alabama Crimson Tide announced its presence in the 2027 class when the Capstone secured 5-star quarterback Elijah Haven, one of the highest-rated passers in his class.

The 5-star was a part of the Elite 11 Finals this past weekend, alongside fellow 2027 commit Trent Seaborn. While Haven had his moments, Seaborn, despite the lesser ranking, may have been the one building more momentum after the weekend.

Elijah Haven 2025 stats

  • 3,931 passing yards.
  • 62 passing TDs (state record in Louisiana).
  • 794 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns.

Elijah Haven flashes insane talent, shows areas of improvement at Elite 11 finals

Haven finished the 7v7 portion, having completed 75% of his 12 passes while throwing for 4 touchdowns, no interceptions, and only 3 sacks. For Haven, however, 7-on-7 isn’t even where he shines the most. You can see in the clips that came out over the weekend that he towers over elite other quarterback recruits, and he has a frame that looks like it’s ready for Sundays, much less Saturdays.

Haven showed flashes of excellence over the weekend, but the word inconsistent was also used by those in attendance for the prestigious event. To be fair to Haven, he’s the type of quarterback whose game is much better suited for live reps where he can impose his build and raw power, but focusing on the fundamentals will be major for Haven as he heads into his senior year.

How did Elijah Haven look at Elite 11 finals?

“On the flip side, Haven looked inconsistent. He overthrew a number of receivers, appeared uncertain at times in the five-step drop and lacked the polish some of the standouts from the weekend displayed. He still showed the arm strength and physical gifts that had made him the No. 1 QB in the class, at one point making an outrageous throw on the run in his Pro Day, but may be due for a slight dip in the rankings.”

It’s only 7on7, but it’s always good to see players go out and compete, and even better, compete at a high level the way that Haven just did.
