Alabama Crimson Tide predicted to land highly coveted 2027 recruit over Ole Miss, Oregon, and USC
The Alabama Crimson Tide appear to be the team to beat for an elite 2027 four-star tight end.
The Alabama Crimson Tide could be on the verge of adding a big-time commit to their 2027 recruiting class.
On3’s Adam Gorney predicted on Monday that Alabama will win the battle for 2027 four-star tight end Rahzario Edwards.
Ole Miss, Oregon, and USC are also in the mix.
Edwards, 6-foot-6/210 pounds from Sacramento, CA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 tight end in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of California. He’s also rated as the No. 76 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
“[Edwards] has said he’s leaning more to leaving the West than staying in the region which should favor Alabama in a big way especially since he’s not entirely sure what new coach Pete Golding’s offense will look like in Oxford,” wrote Gorney before predicting that Alabama will land the talented tight end.
Rahzario Edwards has a basketball background
Edwards is a dynamic athlete who excels at catching jump balls.
That’s likely due to his basketball background.
“Edwards is a former basketball player who really blew up as a sophomore on the grid-iron,” wrote 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins in his scouting report of Edwards. “He’s long and athletic with high level body control. He put up bug numbers as a sophomore for one of the state’s true power programs and is an easy national recruit, talented enough to play for anyone. He has a lean frame and will need to add some good weight and bulk to impact the run game as a blocker at the next level.
“He dominates in the air and has strong hands and great timing on jump balls. You can see the hoops background there in his ability to win 50-50 balls at the catch point and is a smooth, fluid athlete in how he moves. He’s a tough, physical player as well and assuming he can add the necessary bulk to his frame, Edwards has all the tools to be an immediate impact player in college with an NFL ceiling as well.”
Edwards needs to continue to add weight to his frame, but it’s easy to see why he’s such a highly coveted 2027 recruit.
