The Alabama Crimson Tide has nearly ended its 2026 spring camp. Come the end of the week, the Crimson Tide will pack it in and return after the end of the semester break for summer workouts in June and then fall camp in July.

But before the team does, Kalen DeBoer addressed the media regarding what he saw throughout the spring, and of course, during A-Day. While a lot was positive on the offensive side of the ball at quarterback and certainly at wide receiver, those plays came from somewhere, and that would be the defense.

Kalen DeBoer issues a message to his defense following A-Day

“We’ve just got to continue to execute when we have pressures and things like that,” DeBoer said via the Crimson Tide’s YouTube channel. “We’ve gotten a lot better, that was something we kind of slotted as an area we can improve on from last season. We know the different variations of things we can do with our defense. There’s a lot that we put in. Up front, I think, it’s just continue to build and grow and see how far those guys can go, because we have a pretty good idea of what the secondary is capable of.”

“You’re always going to work on tackling. You’re always going to work on pursuit. The effort stuff has got to happen, has got to be a must. I don’t really feel like we’ve ever had issues with that. Our guys are accountable to it. So, now it’s just a matter of execution. Execution of blitz patterns. Executions of our base stuff. We want Coach Wommack to be able to have everything he needs at his fingertips so that he can be successful. I know they’re taking those steps daily to do that.”

Defense still had its moments during A-Day

Just because the offense stole the show, it doesn’t mean that the defense didn’t make its fair share of plays. Justin Hill continued his dominant spring off the EDGE, Dijon Lee’s length and ball skills have carried over to his sophomore campaign, and transfer LB Caleb Woodson was flying around and making plays on the ball carrier.

It will be iron sharpening iron for the Tide this summer and fall.
