Until America’s Team finds a head coach, they are going to be a major talking point.
Deion Sanders and the Dallas Cowboys both have some level of interest in coming together to bring Sanders in as the next head coach. The contract of Mike McCarthy was not extended for the Cowboys and he is now a coaching free agent.
A new detail has emerged that could shine some light on how things are going in Boulder, Colorado. According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, Sanders has been met with “resistance” by higher-ups in Colorado regarding an increase in NIL and coaching staff money.
As we are seeing in the College Football Playoff, it pays to have a team that spends a lot in NIL. Having more of it in today’s age of college football is going to give you more resources to make your program better. Sanders requesting that with the Buffaloes should come as no shock and there are even some who think him flirting with leaving for the NFL could be an act to receive extra resources at Colorado.
Either way, if Sanders is truly interested in going to the Cowboys, this report should only open the door more. Shedeur Sanders is off to the NFL and that is already one thing that Colorado no longer has going for them to keep his father around.
Sanders gave some mixed feelings on the Cowboys and them showing interest just a couple of days ago:
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Sanders told ESPN. "I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
According to Ed Werder, the hall may be in the Cowboys’ court on whether or not the NFL legend is the next coach of the team.
Until Sanders completely shuts it down or the Cowboys hire a coach, expect the noise to continue around the jump from Boulder to Colorado. With the new detail involving pushback on NIL funds, it may have an impact in the grand scheme of things.
