Latest report confirms what we suspected about LSU Tigers QB Sam Leavitt with the start of the season just weeks away
Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt will be the LSU Tigers’ starting quarterback this fall.
One of the big concerns for the LSU Tigers entering the 2026 season is the health of quarterback Sam Leavitt.
The Arizona State transfer had Lisfranc surgery late last year — an injury that can be tough to recover from — and then an additional surgery in April to remove pins from his foot.
Leavitt, though, told reporters earlier this month that he’s 100 percent.
“I’m 100 percent right now,” said Leavitt. “And I’ve been 100 percent for the past few months.”
The LSU quarterback is a competitor, so no one expected any other answer from him.
But is he truly healthy, or is Leavitt just a dog who’s going to say he’s 100 percent no matter what?
New report eases any concerns about Sam Leavitt being limited
The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon reported this week that Leavitt is showing no signs of injury in practice.
“Multiple sources tell me Leavitt continued to take off and run, make big throws off platform and show no signs of any injury concerns hampering his normal approach to playing quarterback,” wrote Dixon. “With less than three weeks until LSU opens the season vs. Clemson, that’s some of the best news Tigers fans could hope for.”
There were quite a few folks who suggested in January that LSU was taking too big of a risk by giving Leavitt big money with him coming off the foot injury.
But the “risk” is clearly paying off. Leavitt is a difference-maker and it sounds like he’s going to be the best version of himself when LSU kicks off the 2026 season in a couple of weeks against Clemson.
