Spring practice is now behind the Notre Dame football program, and it was a very productive series of practices. Most Fighting Irish fans began to get some clarity about what this team will look like once the 2025 college football season begins. Other positions remain a massive question mark.

With the summer and fall camp firmly in front of us, here is an early projection for what the offensive depth chart could look like. Everyone is going to want to obsess over who is taking the first snap under center against Miami, but there are other key spots to also sort out.

Quarterback

The quarterback battle is down to two now between Kenny Minchey and CJ Carr. While some will downplay Minchey’s chances of Minchey winning the battle, I don’t expect him to go down without a first. If I was a betting man today, it would be for Carr to win the starting quarterback job for the opener against Miami.

1 – CJ Carr (RS Fr)

2 – Kenny Minchey (RS So)

Running back

You can call it a 1A.-1B. conversation if you like, but everyone knows that Jeremiyah Love is the stud in the backfield. He has the chance to be the best running back in college football this fall. Jadarian Price will once again play a lot, and be the main backup.

You have to think that Aneyas Williams has the inside track as the third running back for the team after what he did in 2024 as a true freshman. It will be interesting to see if Kedren Young, his classmate, can figure into the rotation.

1 – Jeremiyah Love (Jr)

2 – Jadarian Price (RS Jr)

3 – Aneyas Williams (So)

Pass catchers

Barring something unforeseen, I expect Virginia transfer Malachi Fields to come in during the summer and lock down a starting position as the X receiver. We also know that Jaden Greathouse will start at slot, and Jordan Faison will play a ton to the field. Wisconsin transfer Will Pauling put his best foot forward during the spring, and he looks like the main backup at two different positions.

Eli Raridon took a massive step forward at tight end, and he will be the starter this season barring injury. The bigger question is who will be the second tight end. Jack Larsen took advantage of spring reps, but Arkansas transfer Ty Washington should have every opportunity to come in and compete.

X – Malachi Fields (Sr)

X – Micah Gilbert (RS Fr)

Z – Jordan Faison (Jr)

Z – Will Pauling (Sr)

Slot – Jaden Greathouse (Jr)

Slot – Will Pauling (Sr)

TE – Eli Raridon (Sr)

TE – Ty Washington (RS Jr)

Offensive line

After spring practice, it feels like a very easy task to predict the Notre Dame starting offensive line. With Charles Jagusah spending all of his time inside at right guard and Guerby Lambert banged up due to injury, it would be surprising to see anyone other than Anthonie Knapp over at left tackle. Add in returning starters Billy Schrauth, Aamil Wagner, and Ashton Craig, and you have your starting offensive line.

Predicting the backups is a little more difficult, but Sullivan Absher feels like the ultimate swing guy up front. Joe Otting also got a lot of experience at center this spring, and should be the main backup to Craig. It was also nice to hear from head coach Marcus Freeman about Lambert, and his hopeful return this summer.

LT – Anthonie Knapp (So)

LT – Styles Prescod (RS Fr)

LG – Billy Schrauth (RS Jr)

LG – Sullivan Absher (RS So)

OC – Ashton Craig (RS Jr)

OC – Joe Otting (RS So)

RG – Charles Jagusah (RS So)

RG – Sullivan Absher (RS So)

RT – Aamil Wagner (RS Jr)

RT – Guerby Lambert (RS Fr)
