Notre Dame football landed a tremendous commitment a couple of weeks ago from 2027 Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Prep defensive end Aidan O’Neil. That kicked off a potentially elite defensive line group for head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive line coach Charlie Partridge, and the Fighting Irish staff. There are several important targets left on the board.

Let’s take a look at the 2027 defensive line board, as it currently stands. Freeman and Co. have a lot of work in front of them, but they are in a great spot. The next several months will be pivotal for them to put together a tremendous overall haul.

Here is how the board stacks up currently.

THE COMMIT

Notre Dame currently holds one defensive line commitment in the 2027 class.

EDGE: Aidan O’Neil – Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Prep

O’Neil was a tremendous early addition for Notre Dame. He is a very powerful and relentless pass rusher at 6-5 and 240 pounds. That commitment kicked off a potentially elite defensive line group in the 2027 class.

TOP TARGETS REMAINING

Here are the top 2027 Notre Dame defensive line targets to know.

EDGE Abraham Sesay – Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East

At 6-5 and 225 pounds, Sesay is a long and explosive pass rusher with elite upside. Notre Dame has been leading for the Pennsylvania native for months. It feels like only a matter of time until the Irish staff gets this one done. This would be quite a statement from defensive line coach Charlie Partridge.

EDGE Jackson Vaughn – Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic

Vaughn was originally a member of the 2028 recruiting class before reclassifying to 2027. He is an explosive pass rusher with tons of upside. Notre Dame is in the driver’s seat for the talented defensive end right now.

DT Brayden Parks – Oak Lawn (Ill.) Brother Rice

Parks has been a Notre Dame lean for some time now. At 6-3 and 305 pounds, he is a massive defensive tackle who feels like a perfect fit for the Irish. Despite other programs like Oregon giving them a run for their money, I do believe that Notre Dame gets this one done.

DT David Folorunsho – Chicago (Ill.) St. Patrick

At 6-4 and 285 pounds, Folorunsho is an extremely talented athlete on the defensive line. His connection to the Notre Dame program, it gave them the inside track early on. The Irish staff has had to battle the likes of Miami and Texas Tech, but I do think that the Irish win out in the end.

DT Marcus Fakatou – Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon

Notre Dame football is working hard to try to get Fakatou into this class. He has been on record as saying that they are in his top two schools along with Ohio State. At 6-7 and 275 pounds, Fakatou is a rare athlete who could be either a big end or defensive tackle, possessing some elite upside.

THE WILDCARDS

Here are the 2027 defensive line wildcards on the board currently.

EDGE Xavier Muhammad – South Houston (Texas) High School

Notre Dame has made a big move with Muhammad this offseason. Depending on how the board plays out, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Irish land the talented defender. Muhammad is a strong defensive end with a lot of room to continue to grow.

EDGE Santana Harvey – Lakeland (Fla.) High School

Harvey is an impressive talent at defensive end, standing at 6-5 and 220 pounds with longer arms. With Harvey visiting Notre Dame this offseason, there is clearly interest from his side. There are some impressive options on the board that the Irish are in a good spot with, so it’ll be interesting to see where things go from here.

DT Tyler Alexander – Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central

Alexander has visited South Bend this offseason, which clearly demonstrates some level of interest. At 6-3.5 and 315 pounds, Alexander is an interesting developmental defensive tackle. Depending on how things work out with a couple of the elite targets, Alexander could be an intriguing option to keep an eye on.

EDGE Ifeanyi Emedobi – Fort Wayne (Ind.) Northrop

Emedobi is a local target of interest, but I am just not sure that he’s a player that Notre Dame is going to push for. They would have a great chance of landing him if they push. There just seem to be bigger targets on the board right now.
