David Gabriel Georges’ commitment decision could hurt Ohio State football more than originally thought after latest recruiting news

Ohio State is banking on a commitment from David Gabriel Georges. The latest recruiting news could make the decision to wait on their first 2027 running back commitment until Gabriel George’s’ July decision could backfire on the Buckeyes.

Ohio State is all in on making a big splash in the 2027 recruiting class with five-star RB David Gabriel Georges, and it’s going to hurt if they lose out on him to the Tennessee Volunteers

The Buckeyes aren’t going to have a running back committed until July 22 at the earliest when Gabriel Georges makes his decision. Due to that, Ohio State could be in a really tough spot if they don’t land the Baylor School (TN) standout.

A recent visitor to Columbus at the running back position just made his college decision, and it takes another one off of Ohio State’s board.

Pressure is even higher on Ohio State to land David Gabriel Georges

Ohio State hosted Baton Rouge Catholic (LA) four-star RB Jayden Miles for his official visit over the weekend. One day after wrapping up his official visit, Miles committed to play for the Florida State Seminoles.

The Buckeyes were never going to land Miles today, but very well could have if his commitment date were after Gabriel George makes his. Ohio State can’t commit serious NIL funds to another running back until they know if they’re getting Gabriel Georges.

Ohio State could swing back around to try to flip Miles’ commitment if they don’t get Gabriel Georges, but that’s easier said than done. Doing so would send a message to Miles that he’s clearly not who they wanted in the class, but who they’re settling for.

Miles is the No. 30 running back and No. 388 player nationally, according to 247 Sports Composite. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound running back was very well option No. 2 on Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn’s board at this time.

If Gabriel Georges doesn’t pick Ohio State, the Buckeyes are in a tough spot for 2027 running back recruiting. Miles picking Florida State is definitely part of it.
