The Ohio State football program just had a terrific weekend with the 2026 NFL Draft taking place, and now they’re starting the week with some great news.

There were 11 former Buckeyes drafted to the NFL this past weekend, and now they’re on the board with another recruiting commitment for its class of 2027.

Ohio State beats out Penn State, Auburn, and Tennessee to land key offensive line target

Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen is having a strong run in the class of 2027 and it’s not slowing down. The Buckeyes have landed a commitment from Bishop Watterson (OH) OL Davis Seaman, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound recruit who the Buckeyes had as one of their top offensive line targets.

The Buckeyes offered Seaman last October and the plan is for him to be an offensive tackle for them. It’s a big recruiting win for Ohio State to beat out schools like Auburn, Penn State, and Tennessee to keep a player from leaving their own backyard. Seaman was giving those schools a legit shot to make their pitch and it wasn’t just a shoo-in for Ryan Day’s program.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Seaman is the No. 400 player nationally and No. 15 player in the state of Ohio. Seaman had offers from other programs, including Nebraska, Kentucky, Louisville, and Vanderbilt, among others.

Ohio State has 11 commitments now in the class of 2027 and five of those are offensive linemen. Seaman joins four-star offensive lineman Kellen Wymer and three-star Mason Wilt as in-state commitments among the offensive line. Four-star OL Jimmy Kalis and three-star OL Brody McNeel round out the offensive line haul for 2027 so far.

A good start to the week for the football program shortly after spring practices have come to a close. Ohio State keeping a player home in the Columbus area and not letting them go elsewhere will never be overlooked.
