Ohio State football QB Julian Sayin dropped a bold statement about the Michigan Wolverines that Buckeye Nation will totally love
Julian Sayin is back for his second season as a starter with the Ohio State Buckeyes. What he had to say about last season’s win over Michigan is a positive development for 2026.
Ryan Day has one thing working his way with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2026 that he hasn’t had a lot as a head coach: a starting quarterback back for a second year as a starter in the system.
Ohio State will have it this year with Julian Sayin back for his second season as a starter. Sayin went 12-2 as a starter for the Buckeyes last season. The year came with its ups and downs, one of the big positives was getting back on track with beating the Michigan Wolverines.

Julian Sayin made a strong statement about last year’s win over Michigan
Sayin is a calm-mannered player of few words. He doesn’t do much chirping and he’s more of a player who would rather let their game do the talking. In an appearance on The Triple Option, Sayin made it clear he didn’t have any extra nerves heading into the Michigan game last November.
“I think the team had kind of a great mindset going into it,” Sayin told Urban Meyer and the crew. “We weren’t really feeling a ton of pressure. We know how much it means to the state of Ohio and our fanbase. But walking into that stadium, it was a ton of fun, and we had a bunch of juice. Off the bat I threw the interception, then after that, I felt like we were just in control.”
Sayin went out and put out a strong showing against Michigan. After an opening drive touchdown, the Ohio State quarterback settled in to help the team run by Michigan by a score of 27-9. Sayin had three passing touchdowns to go along with 233 passing yards in the snowy elements in Michigan that day.
The postseason didn’t go well for the Buckeyes with the first two losses for Sayin as a starter. Ohio State didn’t play well as a whole in those two games on offense, and it includes at Sayin’s spot.
Ohio State will get Michigan at home in 2026, along with a jam-packed schedule. Big games are nothing new for Sayin in Year 2, and he needs to show as much. The Buckeyes have Texas, Indiana, Oregon, USC, and Iowa to play against in 2026. Sayin admitting his nerves weren’t an issue going into the Michigan game is a promising sign of what Ohio State will face this season.
