Ohio State football picked up a notable win over the weekend with one of their top recruiting targets from across the country
The Buckeyes have a top-3 recruiting class so far for 2027 and will soon be heading to their total of nine commitments. Ohio State took a key step when one of its offensive line targets over the weekend.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are in their final week of spring practice that’ll wrap up with Saturday’s scrimmage in front of Buckeye Nation. With the spring game approaching, it’ll be a key recruiting weekend for Ohio State’s football program.
This past weekend, the Buckeyes had some important visitors for unofficial visits, and after the second weekend of April, the Buckeyes are in a strong spot with one of their top offensive targets for the class of 2027.
Ohio State to get an official visit from a top offensive line target
Four-star Cherry Creek (CO) IOL Jackson Roper was in Columbus over the weekend and came away impressed by the Buckeyes coaching staff with how the program is run in all facets.
“I’m always impressed by the level of detail that goes into everything at Ohio State,” Roper told A to Z Sports. “They leave nothing to chance, there’s nothing they haven’t thought of and planned for. The expectation in the building is nothing short of greatness.”
They set that tone in everything they do. That’s the kind of program I can see myself playing for.”
Roper will be back in Columbus for an official visit to Ohio State on June 12. In addition to the Buckeyes, the talented offensive lineman from Colorado will be taking visits to Texas A&M, Oregon, and USC.
Ohio State has three offensive linemen committed so far for 2027 with in-state offensive tackles Kellen Wymer and Mason Wilt — as well as Brody McNeel out of Virginia.
Roper is the No. 223 player ranked naturally and No. 12 interior offensive lineman, according to 247 Sports Composite. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound soon-to-be senior in high school is the top-ranked player in the state of Colorado.
The Buckeyes offered Roper last September and getting him on campus for the first time since 2025 over the weekend was key. With an official visit in place, Ohio State is one of the top schools to watch for Roper. Expect a decision to come at some point following the summer official visits.
June 12 will be key for Ohio State and landing another offensive line recruit.
