The transfer portal is closed around college basketball for players to enter. Ohio State lost five players with no real surprises coming about.

C Austin Parks, C Aaron Bradshaw, F Evan Mahaffey, F Sean Stewart, and G Meechie Johnson Jr. all decided to find new schools. On the flip side, the Buckeyes have brought in G Gabe Cupps, C Christoph Tilly, and F Brandon Noel as transfer additions.

The Buckeyes are not yet done though, as they still have a couple of spots to fill. Ohio State is interested in one of the top players in the portal but is awaiting his NBA draft decision.

Ohio State among schools interested in Texas Tech F Darrion Williams

According to Jeff Goodman, Ohio State is one of three programs showing interest in Texas Tech transfer F Darrion Williams. Williams hopes to be drafted but could pull his name out of the NBA draft process.

"The hope from Darrion Williams' camp is that he's gonna get drafted and that he's not coming back to college. If he were to withdraw, Kansas, Ohio State, and NC State would be involved"

Williams is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward from Las Vegas, Nevada, and started his college career at Nevada where he played one season. As a freshman, Williams averaged 7.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in 30 stats.

After transferring to Texas Tech, Williams made 33 starts as a sophomore and averaged 11.4 pounds and 7.5 rebounds per game. This past season with the Red Raiders, he put up 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. Williams is capable of scoring from all three levels.

Adding a player like Williams would solidify the Ohio State starting five for next season if they could land him. Bryce Thornton and John Mobley Jr. would man the backcourt, while Devin Royal and Tilly are in the frontcourt. Williams could be that other forward for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State only has a shot if Williams pulls his name out of the draft process, so that is the biggest hurdle to cross. The Buckeyes beating out Kansas for his commitment would be the other part.
