The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a really nice week on the recruiting trail and there’s a solid chance it could be just a glimpse of what’s to come in July.

Ohio State started the week by adding 2027 five-star DL Marcus Fakatou, then they received a commitment from 2028 five-star WR Jett Harrison on Wednesday.

Top target five-star RB David Gabriel Georges is another big-time recruit the Buckeyes could add later in July, and it’s become clear what they have to be willing to do to make it happen.

Ohio State has to make a clear NIL move with David Gabriel Georges

The Buckeyes know they’ll have to be aggressive on the financial side of things in their recruitment of DGG. Ohio State is battling Tennessee and Ole Miss for the five-star running back, but it is them and the Vols at the top. We know Tennessee is going to come strong on the NIL front and Ohio State has to match it.

“He’s expected to be in the $1 million range, shy of $2 million,” a source with knowledge of the recruitment stated, via On3. “It will be a multi-year deal, that’s something the family has talked about. The family is very clear that it wants a multi-year deal, so they have a roadmap for his entire career.”

There you have it. The family is reportedly looking for a multi-year commitment on his NIL contract. Ohio State is going to have to guarantee money for not only his freshman season but his sophomore season as well at the very least. Gabriel Georges is going to make north of $1 million as a freshman wherever he goes.

A lot of times recruits come in for a high dollar amount, then both sides reevaluate after the season. While Gabriel Georges could look for a pay bump after his freshman season depending on how it goes, he wants to have a set number for more than one year.

It should be a no-brainer move to make happen for the Buckeyes. The time invested led by running backs coach Carlos Locklyn is significant in this recruitment. If Ohio State misses out, it’s a legit loss in the class of 2027. They can’t let it be because they didn’t offer a multi-year deal.
