Ohio State football has to address a staff departure at the wrong time
The next couple of months are going to be crucial for recruiting with a ton of visits taking place both official and unofficial. Ohio State assistant director of recruiting strategy Nick Murphy is leaving the program for a different opportunity. Murphy has been with the program since 2022 and was a key part of the last three top-5 recruiting classes.
Ohio State is now tasked with replacing Murphy at a busy time for recruiting. Murphy was tasked with a key role in day-to-day recruiting operations. When recruits made a trip to Columbus and were inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, Murphy was often in close proximatey making things happen.
Murphy originally came to Ohio State from Charlotte, where he was the director of player personnel. The former Buckeye staff member also spent time at Minnesota and Central Florida in his young career. Murphy has degrees from Coastal Carolina and Texas.
It’s an underrated loss for Ohio State football and Day’s staff. Murphy was well-liked and respected in the building by current and future players both.
