The Oklahoma Sooners have the best recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, and it only keeps getting better. After a big recruiting weekend that included 15 official visits, the Sooners landed one of the players who visited.

On Monday, Trenton Blaylock, brother of Sooners running back Tory Blaylock, committed to Oklahoma. Some may think that was an obvious decision by him, but he was really considering Vanderbilt. At one point during his recruitment, Vanderbilt appeared to be leading. And, rightfully so, as they have been recruiting extremely well lately. Vanderbilt has the No. 32-ranked class, which is very, very good for them, considering the program’s history.

Instead, the Sooners win the recruiting battle for the three-star recruit. Blaylock is the No. 41 cornerback in the country, and the No. 52 player in the state of Texas. Oklahoma loved what they saw on tape and in person from the 6’1, 180-pound cornerback. And, they think the work ethic and tools will translate to the SEC.

The Sooners are loaded up with defensive backs in the 2027 recruiting class

The Sooners have five defensive backs in their 2027 recruiting class, with a potential commit from Utah safety Bode Sparrow still possible. Four of those are cornerbacks, and the one safety is Jaylen Scott. Recently, the Sooners landed five-star cornerback Gabriel Osborne, which made Blaylock’s future decision even harder to predict.

Not to mention, it may be harder for Blaylock to see the field as a true freshman. Sure, we saw Courtland Guillory, a three-star true freshman, start last season and play exceptionally well. So, it is possible. But not Guillory is a sophomore and likely even better. Blaylock may just value the development he knows he’s going to get. Either way, it’s clear the Sooners aced the visit over the weekend.
