Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Sooners extended another offer for their 2028 recruiting class. Shortly after sending an offer for Alexander Beltran, a 6’4 edge rusher, they sent one to Brayson Robinson, another 6’4 edge rusher.

Robinson is a Manvel, Texas high school player, a place the Sooners once had deep connections to in the recruiting space. Now, they are sending an offer to an edge rusher there, and things could pick up. According to his Twitter account, OU has offered 2028 four-star Brayson Robinson.

Robinson is very good and actually has some elite potential. It helps that he already has the size and frame at 6’4, 220 pounds. However, by the time he gets on campus, he could be even bigger.

Then, after a year with the Sooners, or wherever he goes, he could get even bigger in an actual Division 1 strength program. If he does that, with the tools he has as far as length, pursuit, and his relentlessness, he could be elite. Some think he could become a five-star by the time he gets on campus.

OU would be the perfect place to develop Robinson as an edge rusher

The Sooners have established themselves as a defensive team. Their reputation shifted from always having an elite offense to consistently fielding an elite defense. Over the last five years or so, the defensive line has been a huge part of that.

With this shift, elite defensive talent has emerged—and that talent has made its way into the NFL. Most notably, Oklahoma’s reputation for developing edge rushers is growing. Everyone knows about Denver Broncos edge rusher Nik Bonitto, who is recognized as one of the very best in the league. Now, R Mason Thomas is on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking ahead, Taylor Wein will be on an NFL team next year. After that, another standout will likely follow. Jake Kreul could be that guy from the 2026 class, and Krew Jones could be it from the 2027 class. If OU could continue to build a good relationship with Robinson, who knows, he could be next. Right now, Houston, Texas, and a few other big schools seem to be leading for Robinson.
