Monday was full of surprises for head coach Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels as three recruits in the Class of 2025 announced they were decommitting from the school.
Two four-star wide receivers in Jerome Myles and Dillon Alfred headlined the trio. Myles is ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in Utah and checks in as the nation's No. 15 wideout, per On3. The 6-foot-3 215-pound playmaker was the Rebels' second-highest rated recruit in the 2025 class. He has already made official visits to Texas A&M and Utah with a trip to Michigan on the books in July.
Alfred was ranked as the No. 17 player and No. 1 wideout in Alabama, per On3. Alfred is originally from Guatier, MS., but just finished his junior season at Alabama powerhouse Saraland with 35 catches for 586 yards and three touchdowns. He stands at 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, and reportedly has a visit scheduled to Death Valley in July.
Three-star linebacker Corey Amos was the lone defensive commit to reopen his recruitment on Monday. Amos is ranked as the nation's No. 441 recruit and No. 40 EDGE. The Louisiana product checks in as the No. 15 prospect in the Pelican State. Amos has been committed to Ole Miss since February, so his future is murky at the moment. He holds offers from SEC schools such as Mississippi State, Missouri and Alabama with other P4 powerhouses such as Michigan and Penn State also interested.
Kiffin and the Rebels had been on a hot streak in the month of June having assembled the nation's 16th-ranked recruiting class for 2025, per On3's Team Recruiting Rankings. Following the exodus the Rebels now sit at No. 23 in the country and 11th in the SEC.
Due to the way Kiffin assembles his roster this mini exodus isn't overly concerning for the Rebels. If there is one position group that Ole Miss fans should never be concerned about under Kiffin it's his wide receiver group. Expect Ole Miss to dive back into the thick of crootin' season once the dead period, which started on Monday, comes to a close.
And if all else fails, the Portal King won't be denied.
