Jaxson Dart continues to rise up NFL mock draft boards everywhere as his first round buzz keeps getting stronger with every passing day. Some still doubt Dart's pro-ready physical traits. Some have questions about him translating due to Ole Miss' scheme (which has been dismissed as a lazy narrative throughout NFL Draft season).

However, nothing is slowing down his rising momentum as you can see in the image below. Now, with another visit to a team selecting very early in the 2025 NFL Draft, he might just shock the world.

When the 2024 college football season was coming to a close Jaxson Dart was already considered by many to be a strong day two (round two or three) QB prospect, but since more and more have gotten eyes on just how good his final season was his stock just keeps rising.

Following the Senior Bowl all star game week his consensus projected draft stock soared to around pick 40. Now he's all the way up to pick 28 and rising. He just visited with the Steelers last week (pick 21), and he's visiting both the Browns and Raiders this week (both picking inside the top ten of the 2025 NFL Draft). Who will actually draft him? The Cleveland Browns are certainly in a great position to do it.

Jaxson Dart, Cleveland Browns QB?

The Cleveland Browns have plenty of ammunition to make their move if they want to land Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they just had him in for another visit on Monday of this week. The Browns have been one of four teams who have been busy investing significant time with Jaxson Dart this draft season (alongside the Giants, Saints, and Rams). They're not hiding it. The team is selecting a quarterback in this draft. It's just a matter of when, where, and who.

Based on multiple sources throughout 2025 NFL Draft season the Browns have now met formally with QB prospects 12+ times (including private interviews, workouts, the Combine, etc.), and Monday's meeting with Dart was at least their second formal face-to-face.

However, Dart wasn't alone on this latest visit. The team also had Jalen Milroe (Alabama) and Tyler Shough (Louisville) in for the visit too, according to Mary Kay Cabot (who covers the Browns).

The Browns have met multiple times with both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders prior to today's meeting. This marks the team's fourth officially confirmed formal with Shough. This is at least multiple meetings with both Dart and Milroe.

Based on when all five of those quarterbacks are expected to go it's clear the Browns plan to select a passer in round one, two, or three (at the latest). And the Browns don't have to stay put where they are to do it. Cleveland owns five picks within the first 104 selections this year.

If they want to take a quarterback at pick two, they certainly could. However, they would be passing on an elite prospect to do so (in Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter). The best bet likely involves a trade-up into round one from pick 33. That would likely require shedding at least one of their early-mid round picks (67, 94, or 104)

Based on the expected range of Dart's selection in this draft, there's a chance Dart is long gone by the time the Browns want to pick at 33. So yes, it makes sense that they're considering backup plans like Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough too, if they miss out on the better player in Draft. However, it's quite likely the team would much prefer Dart given his high efficiency and quick decision-making as a passer.

Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees loves his passers to be adept in heavy play action-based systems with a quick trigger and good deep ball accuracy. This is true dating back to his several years coaching in college. The passing game specialist Nick Charlton loves much of the same, except he especially likes working with mobile quarterbacks who run tough like Dart did for Ole Miss too (given his experiences at UConn and Maine).

The fit is there. The options and potential pick ranges where the Browns could make their move are certainly there too. Cleveland might try and strike with a trade up into round one for Dart. Or they could really shock the world and take him with the second overall pick considering his 100th percentile analytics profile. Either way, let's just hope Dart finds success wherever he lands.
