The Texas A&M Aggies are gearing up for their first home game in nearly a month when they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, and it’s shaping up to be a massive weekend that’ll be bigger than just the SEC standings. With an energized crowd looking to keep the team undefeated, it should be a fantastic environment.

However, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the Aggies this weekend, as a concerning injury has popped up this week that could diminish their offense in what could potentially be a trap game against the Gamecocks if A&M isn’t careful.

Offensive superstar a game-time decision

According to A&M’s injury report, star wide receiver Mario Craver, who leads the team with 775 receiving yards, popped up on the injury report as questionable this week. While we don’t know what his exact injury is, he entered the injury tent in the second half against Missouri and didn’t return to action. According to reports, Craver is a “game-time decision”.

Craver being out would be a significant blow to an Aggies’ offense already missing running back Le’Veon Moss. Craver not only leads the team in receptions and receiving yards, but he’s also proven to be one of the most productive receivers in the country. He sits fifth in PFF Receiving Grade (85.4) first in Yards Per Route Run (3.88), and third in YAC/Reception (10.8).

If he misses time, the team will likely turn to Ashton Bethel-Roman to fill in. The redshirt freshman has been a strong WR3 option and has come up with big plays in key spots throughout the season, tallying seven receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns over the last three games, but this would be his first full-time action out there.

While South Carolina might not be the most concerning opponent the Aggies will play, they kept it close with Alabama just a few weeks ago, and they snapped A&M’s seven-game win streak last season as quarterback LaNorris Sellers put up over 350 yards and three touchdowns on the Aggies.

With these injuries, the Aggies will have to be on high alert and ready to roll from the get-go if they want to avoid a trap game that derails their momentum as they gear up for a potential SEC Championship berth and bid for the top seed in the College Football Playoff.
