On Saturday, before the Chiefs even got a chance to defend their home field against the Buffalo Bills, it was evident that the streak would end. Hosting five straight Championship Games is the longest streak in NFL history, and because the Ravens advanced over the Houston Texans and are the No. 1 seed, they will host it next week.
The last time an AFC Championship Game was held somewhere other than Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, was in 2017 when Tom Brady and the New England Patriots hosted Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That is still crazy to type out, especially when you think about the quarterback duos we have seen over the last few years in terms of guys who have matched up with Patrick Mahomes. This year, it could be Lamar Jackson against Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes.
With the Ravens' win over the Texans, they are guaranteed to host the Championship Game, which means that the Chiefs' road to the Super Bowl just got even harder.
It already wasn't going to be easy, as going to a Super Bowl is never easy, and when you factor in the offensive issues the Chiefs have had this year, it definitely wasn't going to be as easy as we are used to seeing.
However, if the Chiefs can win in Buffalo, which is one of the more hostile environments you can play in, then they can win in Baltimore. Either way, this Sunday should be fun, as the Bills are already letting the trash talk fly.
Bills’ Dion Dawkins made a huge mistake calling out Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes
That usually doesn’t go well.
