ESPN isn't feeling very optimistic about Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill in 2023.
The national sports media outlet took a close look at the quarterback situations of 19 teams with starter questions.
And ESPN thinks Tannehill is in serious danger of losing his starting job to former Kentucky standout Will Levis (a second round selection by the Titans in the 2023 NFL Draft) either this season or right after the season.
ESPN also suggested that Tannehill could be a trade deadline target if the Titans struggle in the first half of the season.
From ESPN: Most likely outcome: Levis takes the job from Tannehill at some point, either during this season or after it's finished, and Tannehill is on the free agent market next offseason. Heck, if the Titans really struggle in the first half of the season, Tannehill could even be an appealing trade target at the deadline.
2023 should certainly be an interesting season for the Titans. The decision to stick with Tannehill, who will be a free agent after the season, indicates that Tennessee is hoping to compete this fall. Signing wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins seemingly confirmed that plan.
If the Titans get off to a slow start, it seems almost automatic that Levis will get a shot to show what he can do as a rookie.
