Tennessee Vols fans probably aren’t going to be fans of Rivals national columnist Mike Farrell after reading his latest prediction for UT football in 2021.
Farrell revealed his SEC predictions this week and he doesn’t think Josh Heupel is going to win many games in his first season as Tennessee’s head coach.
The Rivals national columnist has the Vols going 4-8 in 2021 and finishing sixth in the SEC East, just ahead of Vanderbilt (Farrell has the Commodores going 2-10 in 2021).
Here’s what Farrell had to say about Tennessee:
While there’s still some good players left on this Tennessee roster, with all of the upheaval in the program that has occurred in the past 12 months there’s been a big talent drain and an uphill battle ahead for new coach Josh Heupel. One of the biggest remaining questions is what on earth is happening at QB?
A 4-8 season is probably the worst-case scenario for the Vols in 2021. At a minimum, Tennessee should beat Bowling Green, Tennessee Tech, South Alabama, and Vanderbilt. Games against Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Missouri, Kentucky, and South Carolina should be considered true toss-up games that could go either way.
Farrell obviously doesn’t believe the Vols will win a single one of those toss-up games.
We’ll see how correct he proves to be. I, for one, have a hard time believing that Tennessee won’t win at least one or two of those matchups.
