Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, a third-round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, was recently the target of a "negative report" that was blown out of proportion

The Athletic's Dan Duggan pointed out last week that Hyatt is running with the Giants' third team offense and he likely has an uphill climb to earn a key role with the team as a rookie.

An aggregate Twitter account took that report and framed it as though Hyatt is struggling during minicamps (which isn't what Duggan was saying).

Here's what Duggan's report actually said.

From The Athletic: The Giants are bringing rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt along slowly. The third-round pick mostly worked with the third-team offense this spring. Wide receivers coach Mike Groh dismissed concerns about Hyatt’s limited route tree in college, while acknowledging that it’s a big adjustment for any rookie receiver to transition to the NFL. At the very least, Hyatt could have a role as a deep-threat specialist as rookie. But it looks like it’ll be an uphill climb to unseat established veterans for a more substantial role early in the season

And uphill climb to unseat veterans isn't exactly a negative. It's just reality for most rookies.

Hyatt didn't appear to mind the embellished "report", tweeting over the weekend "I love starting from the bottom! Makes the come up more satisfying".

There's no doubt that Hyatt is a hard worker. And he's not expecting anything to be given to him. Instead, he's ready to earn his role with the Giants via hard work.

The former Tennessee standout has the right mindset to be a star in the NFL. He has the talent, too. Now he just needs the opportunity.
