Tennessee Titans Oilers news

Earlier this offseason, much to the dismay of fans in Houston, the Tennessee Titans officially announced that they'll be wearing Oilers throwback uniforms for two games this season.

Tennessee will wear the uniforms in home games against the Atlanta Falcons (October 29) and the Houston Texans (December 17).

The Titans, who were the Tennessee Oilers for two seasons after moving to Nashville (they played games the first season in Memphis), retained the franchise history after leaving Houston.

Houston no longer has any claim to the Oilers' history, but that isn't stopping the University of Houston from wearing some Oilers inspired uniforms for their game on Saturday against UTSA.

Those are sweet looking uniforms (though not nearly as sweet looking as the actual Oilers throwbacks the Titans will wear in 2023), but it doesn't change that the Oilers' team history currently resides in Nashville — and it's not leaving anytime soon.

The city of Houston can try to steal the look back all they want, but the Titans are still the only NFL team that will be wearing Oilers throwback jerseys. Houston will just have to settle for the knockoff look from their local college team.
