Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has never been a stranger to controversy.
From being awkwardly fired by Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders, to leaving Tennessee after one season, and then getting fired by USC on the tarmac, there’s never a shortage of absurdity when it comes to Kiffin.
Over the last several years, though, Kiffin has seemingly matured.
But this past Saturday, the old Kiffin popped up for a brief moment.
Before Kiffin’s Rebels kicked off against Alabama on Saturday, Kiffin gave a pre-game interview that lit up social media.
“GET YOUR POPCORN READY”

Classic Kiffin.
While the comment was definitely ill-advised (Alabama beat Ole Miss 42-21), Kiffin has at least taken the criticism this week in stride.
Ole Miss is even using it as a promotional tool.

The best part about this whole thing didn’t even happen on camera.
Kiffin immediately knew he had made a dumb comment. After throwing his interview headset, he put on his coach’s headset and told offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby that he said something “really stupid”.
And at halftime, Kiffin told Lebby that they forgot to plug the microwave in.
At least Kiffin has good self-awareness. Too bad he doesn’t have any self-control.
Lane Kiffin addressed the ‘get your popcorn ready’ comment he made before to the Rebels’ 42-21 loss to Bama:
“Don’t even know why it came out. Told Lebby ‘I just said something stupid, you better score a lot of points’. Said at halftime to Lebby ‘plug the mircowave in’.
