Tennessee Vols wide receiver Bru McMcoy had a breakout game in Saturday’s win against the Florida Gators, catching five passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.

McCoy’s big performance was huge for the Vols considering star wide receiver Cedric Tillman missed the game due to an ankle injury.

After the game, McCoy, who transferred to Tennessee from USC, spoke to reporters about what he’s experienced at UT so far. And how it’s beyond his wildest expectations.

“It’s (the environment at Tennessee) a lot different from where I came from,” said McCoy after the game. “I’ve done my best to ride the rollercoaster the best I can and lock in for the team and do what I can. I came here to do a job and help this team win.”

“I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into,” continued McCoy. “Couldn’t picture, couldn’t fathom it — the sound, the crowd, everything. It’s an unbelievable experience. It’s surreal. I made the best decision I’ve made, coming here.”

If you’re a recruit and you hear those words from a player who is from California and originally went to USC, how can it not make you sit up in your seat and take notice of Tennessee?

The Vols obviously have something special going on right now. The offense is putting up insane numbers, players are locked in, and everyone is on the same page. When that happens, great things are usually in store for a program.

And I’m sure there are a lot of really talented players who would like to be part of what Josh Heupel is building on Rocky Top.
