Elite recruit from the west coast shares update that should catch the attention of Tennessee football fans
An elite 2028 four-star recruit from the west coast dropped a recruiting update this week that caught the attention of Tennessee Vols football fans.
The Tennessee Vols are in the home stretch of the 2027 recruiting cycle — the early signing period begins in early December — which means the program’s full attention will soon turn to the 2028 cycle.
One 2028 recruit who’s expected to receive quite a bit of attention nationally is four-star cornerback Jordan Hicks.
Hicks, 6-foot-1/180 pounds from Mission Viejo, CA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 17 cornerback in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of California.
The Oregon Ducks are currently viewed as the team to beat for Hicks. The USC Trojans are also in the mix.
But it’s still very early in this recruitment, and it sounds like Tennessee could get into the mix for the four-star defensive back.
Hicks told On3 this week that he hopes to take a game day visit to Tennessee this fall.
One visit can change everything in a recruitment. If Hicks visits Tennessee for a game and both sides feel like it’s a good fit, we could see the Vols surge in this recruiting battle. But we won’t know how serious the interest is between both sides until that visit happens (if it happens…these things are fluid).
Hicks, who was offered by Tennessee on May 12, has the talent to be a starter in the SEC. He could be an interesting player to watch as the Volunteers begin shifting their attention toward the 2028 recruiting class.
