5-star RB David Gabriel Georges sends cryptic message that has Tennessee and Ohio State fans very confused
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is set to choose between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Vols on July 22, though he’s reportedly already made his decision.
Monday was a very interesting day in the recruiting battle for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
And it got even more interesting on Monday night thanks to a cryptic message from the coveted recruit.
Gabriel Georges’ uncle, Jean Agenor, told On3’s Steve Wiltfong on Monday that the five-star running back has already made his decision — he’s just not telling anyone yet.
Agenor then went in depth on each of Gabriel Georges’ finalists. You can read the lengthy interview here, but the gist is essentially that Gabriel Georges could be a legend who changes the course of the program at Tennessee, while at Ohio State he’d be just another cog in the machine.
“I know how hungry the Tennessee fan base is,” said Agenor. “I know what it would represent for David to go to Tennessee. He would end up being a legend at Tennessee… I’m not saying he can’t become a legend at Ohio State. I truly believe in my nephew. David will do what he does. He’s the best running back in this class and it’s not even close. I feel wherever he goes he’ll be something different but I feel sometimes when you’re part of a machine yourself you’re just another great player in that machine.”
“Ohio State doesn’t need David,” added Agenor. “Ohio State can go in the portal and get a couple of good running backs. They’ll probably try and flip someone else if David doesn’t go there. Ohio State will always have pieces.”
Some Ohio State fans took those comments as a good sign for the Vols and a bad sign for the Buckeyes.
(Side note: I thought something else that Agenor said was a bigger sign of where Gabriel Georges will land.)
On Monday night, Gabriel Georges sent a tweet that confused both fan bases.
“I didn’t say anything,” tweeted Gabriel Georges.
Gabriel Georges hasn’t talked much publicly during his recruitment, and he’s only sent 314 tweets since his account was created in 2022. He’s not the type of player to tweet or say stuff for attention or to cause drama. So when Gabriel Georges does say or tweet something, it makes people take notice.
It’s unclear if Gabriel Georges’ tweet was in response to the reaction to his uncle’s comments, but it certainly feels like that’s the case.
Maybe it means something, or maybe it means absolutely nothing. Either way, we’re getting closer to the end of this recruiting battle, and one fan base is going to feel extremely happy while the other fan base feels extremely let down.
