‘All those things make me a little bit on edge’ – National analyst predicts the final score of Tennessee vs Oklahoma
The Tennessee Vols are set to host the Oklahoma Sooners in Knoxville on Saturday night.
The Tennessee Vols will be looking to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive this weekend in a home matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Tennessee is 6-2 with losses to the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Vols essentially need to win out to have a legitimate shot at reaching the 12-team College Football Playoff for the second straight season.
National college football analyst predicts the final score of Tennessee vs Oklahoma
This is certainly an interesting matchup for the Volunteers. The Sooners have the No. 5 scoring defense in the nation (OU is allowing 12.5 points per game) while Tennessee has the No. 2 scoring offense in the nation (UT is scoring 45.6 points per game).
Something’s gotta give.
On3’s JD PicKell thinks it will ultimately be Tennessee’s offense that comes through on Saturday night in Knoxville.
PicKell made his score prediction this week for the Vols vs Sooners showdown, and he has Tennessee winning 34-27.
“The problem with Tennessee is they’re going to score at a pretty consistent clip,” said PicKell. “And if you want to beat Tennessee, you’ve got to pack a lunch, pack a hard hat, get those gross gels that runners eat when they go run marathons. It’s going to be that kind of vibe for you. You’ve got to have some stamina to you offensively. And the thing with Oklahoma is, if they’re going to win this game, it’s going to take something against a powerful football team that we haven’t seen yet to this point in the season (from the Sooners).
“Oklahoma, the most points they’ve scored against a Power-Four team is 26. So if 26 is the number to beat for Tennessee — Oklahoma is great offensively, but I don’t feel great about Oklahoma holding them to less than that number. Especially with it being in Neyland with the black jerseys. All of those things make me a little bit on edge. So (Vols QB) Joey Aguilar, if you play clean and play on time, you win the football game. I think Oklahoma has a good day offensively. I think Tennessee has a better offensively. Final score, 34-27 Vols win. Vols cover in Neyland.”
Tennessee and Oklahoma will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday night.
