Former Tennessee Vols defensive back named by CBS Sports as an undervalued draft prospect
Several former Tennessee Vols players are expected to be either late round selections or undrafted free agents for the 2026 NFL Draft, which is set to get underway on April 23 in Pittsburgh.
A former Tennessee Vols defensive back was named by CBS Sports this week as an “undervalued” prospect ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco included former Vols defensive back Jalen McMurray among his 20 undervalued draft prospects on Tuesday.
“I love finding tough, feisty slot corners who will battle play in and play out,” wrote Prisco of McMurray. “That’s the exact description for Jalen McMurray. At 5-foot-11 184 pounds, he isn’t an imposing physical player but he doesn’t back down from the fight. Playing on Tennessee teams that could have two first-round corners taken in Jermond McCoy and Colton Hood, he did his part in his 10 starts after transferring from Temple.
“He will tackle in the run game and he battles when asked to cover. He can also blitz. For a team looking for a late-round corner who can play in the nickel and isn’t afraid to throw his body around, McMurray is worth a look.”
McMurray, a Maryland native who started his career at Temple, spent his final two college seasons at Tennessee. He totaled 70 tackles, six tackles for loss, and two sacks during his time with the Vols.
The former Vol also had an interception while playing at Temple.
McMurray is expected to be either a late-round selection or an undrafted free agent in next week’s 2026 NFL Draft.
