Former Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker gets clarity on his roster status with the Titans after some initial confusion
Former Tennessee volunteers quarterback Hendo Hooker is entering his fourth season in the NFL.
Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker learned his roster status with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Some fans initially thought Hooker, who is 28 years old, had made the Titans’ 53-man roster after news broke that former Kentucky quarterback Will Levis had been waived.
But that didn’t turn out to be the case.
Hooker, a third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, was waived on Sunday evening as the Titans are only keeping two quarterbacks (Cam Ward and Mitch Trubisky) on the active roster.
If Hooker clears waivers, he could land on the Titans’ practice squad. He spent time on the practice squad with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets last season.
The former Vol has attempted just nine passes since entering the NFL in 2023 (Hooker didn’t play as a rookie while recovering from the torn ACL he suffered during his final season at Tennessee).
On a more positive note for former Vols quarterbacks, Joe Milton made the Dallas Cowboys’ 53-man roster as the team is keeping three quarterbacks (Dak Prescott and Sam Howell).
