The Tennessee Vols are reportedly bringing a former NFL quarterback to Rocky Top to join the coaching staff as an analyst.
According a report from VolQuest, Tennessee is hiring former Oklahoma/NFL quarterback Landry Jones to serve as an analyst.
Jones spent seven seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Oakland Raiders (Jones was teammates with former Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs in Pittsburgh in 2017).
Before landing in the NFL, Jones played at Oklahoma from 2008 to 2012. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel served as Jones' quarterbacks coach for all five of Jones' seasons in Norman. During Jones' last two seasons at Oklahoma, Heupel was also the program's offensive coordinator.
Jones, who was a fourth round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers, won the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2010 and he was named as a Second-Team All-Big 12 player twice while at Oklahoma (2010 and 2012).
Tennessee had an open analyst position after losing analyst McKenzie Milton to UCF last month (Milton will serve as the new quarterbacks coach at UCF).
