Former Tennessee Vols tight end Jakob Johnson received some good news on Tuesday morning.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the New York Giants are signing Johnson to their active roster.

Johnson, who was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2019, was signed by the Giants in August after spending the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Johnson has carved out a nice role for himself in the NFL after being an unheralded player in college. He's bounced back and forth between practice squads at times, but he usually ends up playing quite a few snaps during the course of a season.

The Giants have familiarity with Johnson thanks to the time the former Vol spent with offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo in Las Vegas and New England.

New York takes on the Washington Commanders in Week 2.
