Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell put an end to an offseason narrative this week at the SEC league meetings. Caldwell is entering her third season as Tennessee’s head coach.
Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell quickly put an end to one offseason narrative this week.
And all it took was a selfie.
There’s no bad blood between Kim Caldwell and Ole Miss coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin
Caldwell went viral in February when she offered a “drive-by handshake” to Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin after the Lady Vols’ loss to the Rebels.
“I think she was probably just really ready to go,” said McPhee-McCuin after the game. “I like Kim. And sometimes — I don’t ever take stuff like that personally because the emotions, we’re competitive, and she’s at Tennessee, that’s a lot of history behind that place. Maybe she was in a rush or maybe she was upset, but I respect both of [those scenarios]. For me, I was just glad we got the win.”
There was some speculation following the season that Caldwell was possibly upset because of tampering.
That’s because former Lady Vols guard Talaysia Cooper transferred to Ole Miss in April.
McPhee-McCuin responded to the speculation via a tweet.

On Tuesday at the SEC league meetings, Caldwell and McPhee-McCuin took a selfie together, signaling that there’s no bad blood between the two coaches.
Life in the SEC can be tense — especially in-season. But it’s certainly nice to see that Caldwell and McPhee-McCuin aren’t “enemies”. We’ve got enough of that on the internet these days….
