Five-star wide receiver TK Keys was one of the Tennessee Vols’ highest-rated signees in the 2026 recruiting class.

Keys, 6-foot-2/195 pounds from Hattiesburg, MS, was rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation.

CBS Sports makes revelation about TK Keys’ expected role for the Volunteers in 2026

Redshirt sophomore Braylon Staley and junior Mike Matthews are locked in as Tennessee’s top two wide receivers entering the 2026 season.

Keys will be competing with sophomore Travis Smith Jr, sophomore Radarious Jackson, redshirt freshman Joakim Dodson, and fellow true freshman Tyreek King for the No. 3 wide receiver job.

CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford dropped some interesting intel this weekend on Keys and the role he could play for the Volunteers this fall.

“He’s going to be special,” said a source to Crawford of Keys. “He’s different.”

“The highest-rated wide receiver ever to sign with Tennessee, expectations are sky high for Keys, the top-ranked pass-catcher in the 2026 recruiting class,” added Crawford. “At some point this year, Keys is expected to secure a starting role, likely on the outside opposite junior Mike Matthews. He’s not there yet after a limited spring, but he’ll have an opportunity to impress during preseason camp and early in the season.”

Keys missed time in the spring while recovering from a knee injury he suffered last fall during his senior season of high school.

“I wouldn’t say it set me back, but I’m still in protocol for sure,” said Keys in March. “I’m not full speed right now. It’s really just getting a lot of rehab in. Getting my leg back to feeling like my other leg. So that’s pretty much it.”

Jackson, who caught nine passes for 90 yards as a true freshman last season, is considered by many the favorite to win the No. 3 wide receiver job in fall camp. He’s an elite talent who has NFL potential.

But it sounds like Keys may be too talented to keep off the field as a true freshman in 2026.

The Vols have an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver — Smith, Dodson, and King are extremely talented as well and could easily emerge as options in the passing game in 2026. That’s a testament to the incredible job that Tennessee wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope has done on the recruiting trail.
