Country music superstar and noted Tennessee Vols fan Morgan Wallen was careful not to overplay his UT fandom during his concert last weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the home of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Wallen didn’t wear an Alabama jersey or say “Roll Tide” or anything else that would’ve gone against his Tennessee fandom, but he didn’t shove the big orange down concert-goers’ throats, either (except for the subtle orange wristband deal).

The singer, for example, didn’t play his song “Tennessee Fan”, which is about a guy converting an Alabama sorority member to a Vols fan.

Morgan Wallen doesn’t sing “Volunteers” lyric in one of his songs during concert in Tuscaloosa

One of Wallen’s popular songs, “The Way I Talk”, includes a reference to “cheering on the Volunteers”.

Wallen, however, omitted that lyric while performing the song at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Plenty of Vols fans weren’t thrilled about Wallen leaving out the “Volunteers” lyric, but it was more than understandable.

No one is ever going to doubt Wallen’s Tennessee fandom — his blood clearly runs orange — but he’s an entertainer, too. And many of his fans root for teams other than the Vols. Wallen, of course, doesn’t want to alienate those fans — especially if they spent money to attend one of his shows.
