Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols are reportedly in the mix for a second transfer center. The Volunteers landed a commitment from Loyola transfer center Miles Rubin over the weekend.
The Tennessee Vols landed a commitment on Sunday from Loyola transfer center Miles Rubin.
Rubin, 6-foot-10/220 pounds, averaged 11.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks last season (all career highs).
The Chicago native has one season of eligibility remaining after spending the last three seasons at Loyola.
Rubin gives the Vols the elite rim protector they needed after losing Felix Okpara (out of eligibility).
And Tennessee may not be done at the center position.
Tennessee Vols are reportedly in the mix for another transfer center
According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Tennessee is one of the teams that Cincinnati transfer Moustapha Thiam is considering.
Thiam, 7-foot-2/250 pounds from Dakar, Senegal, averaged 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks as a sophomore last season.
As a true freshman at UCF in 2024-25, Thiam averaged 2.6 blocks per game.
According to Goodman, several other teams are also in the mix for Thiam, including St. John’s, which will host the transfer center on a visit beginning on Tuesday.
The Vols are clearly looking to add some size to their roster. Pairing Thiam with Rubin and returning forward DeWayne Brown would certainly give the Volunteers a feared frontcourt.
