There was a lot of talk before the Tennessee Vols' matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round of the College Football Playoff about whether or not UT's players would be able to handle the sub-freezing weather in Columbus.

Some of Tennessee's players responded to that question by coming out for warmups with no shirts on despite the 25 degree weather.

Earlier this week, South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer joined GoJo and Golic to discuss the college football postseason and he was asked about his thoughts on players wearing no shirts for warmups in frigid weather.

Beamer suggested that the players wearing no shirts were trying "too hard" while also pointing out that South Carolina is more "uniform" as a team when it comes to what they wear during pregame warmups.

"I get what some of those guys are trying to do, I guess, to show their toughness," said Beamer. "More power to them. It certainly looked cold. But we try to be very uniform with what we're wearing as a team during pregame warmups and during the game as well. So that was interesting."

"To me, you're trying too hard I think, maybe, when you're doing that," added Beamer."

Beamer didn't specifically mention the Vols with his answer, but considering Tennessee is the team that was highlighted the most by the media for going shirtless in the first round, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to suggest that Beamer is throwing a little shade in UT's direction.

I'm not sure throwing shade is the right move there — South Carolina, after all, didn't reach the playoff this year so they didn't have to worry about playing in cold weather up north.

But at the same time, I doubt Tennessee's players will be going shirtless in warmups the next time they face sub-freezing temps.
