It turns out that Tennessee also has the quarterback version of 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges

The future of the Tennessee Volunteers looks bright and also very hard to tackle.

One of the biggest takeaways from watching 2027 five-star Tennessee Vols commit David Gabriel Georges on ESPN 2 this week — outside of the fact that he’s an elite player — is that he’s nearly impossible to tackle.

The only player on the field on Thursday night who had much luck tackling the Baylor School running back was Brentwood Academy linebacker Kenneth Simon, a 2027 four-star recruit who is also committed to Tennessee.

David Gabriel Georges isn’t the only player in Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class that’s nearly impossible to tackle

Not only do the Vols have a commitment from the hardest running back in the 2027 class to tackle, they also have a commitment from the hardest quarterback in the 2027 class to tackle.

2027 three-star quarterback Derrick Baker, who committed to Tennessee in February, showed on Friday night that he’s no match for average high school players.

Baker led Milton to a 30-29 win over North Cobb on Friday after he converted a two-point conversion with just 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Baker will be an important player for the Vols in 2027. The Georgia native will likely be a top backup option for the Vols with Tennessee at high risk to lose either Faizon Brandon or George MacIntyre after the 2026 season (whichever quarterback isn’t viewed as the starter for 2027 will be a strong candidate to transfer).

Colorado transfer Ryan Staub could return to Tennessee in 2027 (he’ll be eligible for a fifth college season), but it could still be Baker who emerges as the top backup option for the Vols in 2027.
