Tennessee has finally parted ways with Chaz Coleman and the official reason given provides insight into what went wrong
The Chaz Coleman saga is officially over as the Tennessee Vols have parted ways with the Penn State transfer EDGE.
The Chaz Coleman saga on Rocky Top has finally come to an end.
On3’s Pete Nakos and Chris Low reported on Friday morning that the Tennessee Vols have officially parted ways with Coleman, who missed most of spring practice and all of summer workouts with the team.
“Tennessee has parted ways with Penn State transfer EDGE Chaz Coleman, sources tell Chris Low and me for On3,” wrote Nakos.
Interestingly, Nakos reported that Coleman was “medically disqualified” from Tennessee’s roster.
“He has been medically disqualified from the Volunteers’ roster,” reported Nakos.
It’s believed that part of Coleman’s offseason issues at Tennessee were due to a head injury he suffered late last season at Penn State that caused lingering problems with vertigo.
“He’s had some health things,” noted VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs earlier this spring. “He’s had some things that have bothered him — even going back to the end of last season. Back in November, there were some things that he dealt with that kind of plagued him.”
CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer reported in May that Coleman has been dealing with some vertigo issues after he “suffered a head injury at an unknown point during his time at Penn State that seems to have caused lingering vertigo symptoms.”
Coleman was the Vols’ biggest offseason transfer addition, but things unfortunately didn’t work out for either side.
