Tennessee’s had a great recruiting weekend, but the Vols are also about to lose a longtime commit to an SEC rival
The Tennessee Volunteers have had an incredible weekend on the recruiting trail, but Josh Heupel’s program is also in real danger of losing a longtime commit to the Georgia Bulldogs.
It’s been a massive recruiting weekend for the Tennessee Vols.
Josh Heupel’s program flipped four-star linebacker (and Vol legacy) Kenneth Simon II from Alabama. And the Vols landed a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson.
More good news could be on the way for Tennessee as they continue to pursue players like five-star running back David Gabriel Georges and five-star EDGE DJ Jacobs (an Ohio State commit). The Vols are also hoping to land three-star athlete Dayon Cooper, who decommitted from Florida State on Sunday.
But unfortunately for the Vols, it wasn’t all good news this weekend.
In-state Vols commit appears to be on the verge of flipping to Georgia
2027 four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife has been committed to Tennessee since last November, but that may not be the case for much longer.
Fife visited Georgia this weekend — his second visit to Athens in less than a month — and he admitted to On3’s Steve Wiltfong that he has a big decision to make in the coming weeks.
“Georgia plays freshmen early everywhere and it shows with the stats, and they develop defensive linemen at a very high level, so I feel like I can get on the field very early if I put in work… I definitely have a big decision to make within the next couple of weeks,” said Fife to Wiltfong.
Vols defensive line coach Rodney Garner visited Fife last month at his high school in Georgia, so it seems like Tennessee would prefer to hold on to him. But with the Bulldogs pushing hard, it could be tough to keep the Georgia native committed (Tennessee probably won’t get into a bidding war to keep him, so that could be part of the decision as well).
Fife is still committed to Tennessee for now, but it feels inevitable that he’ll flip to UGA at some point this summer.
